CIP UGANDA

The Career Imagination Program (CIP) Uganda is a youth-led, non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between education, skills development, and employment opportunities for young people. Founded in 2012 at the OECD Global Youth Forum in Paris under the theme "Education and Skills," CIP emerged from a global conversation about the challenges facing young people as they transition from education into the world of work. The organization was co-founded by Jonan Kato, Johannes de Geus, Prof. Jorge Cardoso, and Katherine Acheson following growing recognition that traditional education systems alone were not adequately preparing young people for the realities of the labour market. Today, CIP Uganda works to equip young people with practical skills, entrepreneurial capabilities, leadership competencies, digital literacy, and career guidance that enable them to thrive in an increasingly competitive and technology-driven economy. We believe that every young person possesses talent, creativity, and potential. Our role is to help them discover these strengths, develop them into practical skills, and connect them to meaningful opportunities.

Claire Nganizi

When Claire joined CIP’s Entrepreneurship class at Kololo SSS, she was a passionate student with an interest in business but little practical knowledge on how to turn her ideas into reality. Through CIP’s interactive training, mentorship, and hands-on business sessions, she learned key skills in financial management, customer service, and marketing. Today, Claire successfully owns and runs a thriving shop selling quality beddings in Kampala. Her business is growing steadily and she continues to serve a loyal customer base across the city. “CIP’s entrepreneurship program gave me the confidence and practical tools I needed to start my own business. I learned how to manage money, attract customers, and keep growing. What started as a school project has now become my successful livelihood.

GEORGE MUKULA

When George was identified at St. Mary’s College Kisubi, he showed strong potential but needed guidance to channel his interest in business and finance into a professional career. Through CIP’s guided mentorship program, he received targeted training in financial literacy, taxation principles, and business compliance. Today, George works as a professional tax consultant, specializing in the gaming and betting industry. He supports businesses with regulatory compliance, financial optimization, and strategic tax planning, helping them navigate this fast-growing sector successfully. “CIP’s mentorship gave me more than knowledge — it gave me direction and confidence.
